A walk with Hermes

For my first post, I’d like to give a little back story on my journey into Hermeticism and the intentions of making this blog.

The Beginning

My journey into Hermeticism is fairly new endeavor at this time of posting this, been learning about it for about a year now. However, I have found myself deeply fascinated and intrigued by the words of Hermes Trismygistis as they are written in the Copenhaver translations of the Hermetica. And I became enthralled by the classical hermetic tradition and the development of this unique belief system and rich cultural time in history. But I didn’t stumble on this great book by mere coincidence.

It initially began when I was listening to an audio book called “The Kybalion” by the Three initiates, which in turned lead me to become curious of this new found “Hermetic Philosophy” and this “Hermes Trismygistis” guy. Although I should have it noted, that this books perspective on hermetic ideas is pretty flawed to say the least. and we will probably cover it in later posts, meanwhile If you feel inclined to, you can read this post called “The Kybalion is Still Crap, No Matter Who You Think You Are” written by my friend Sam Block over at the Digital Ambler blog.

Sam is someone I consider a mentor in my walk on the path of Hermes and probably the primary reason behind it. And it was when I first stumbled into his discord server community called “The Hermetic House Of Life” when I discovered the Corpus Hermeticum. This discord server was pivotal to my journey into classical Hermeticism and occultism as whole. It was also this community that motivated the creation of this blog.

The Intention

The intention of this blog is to be an outlet of creative expression, to improve my writing, and a tool for others to gain my personal in depth understanding of a hermetic wisdom, magic, divination and similar occult themes as a whole. I am also using this blog to document my own realizations, opinions, and ideas I have retraining to self discovery, That, hopefully, other people might find interesting at least and/or helpful.

I hope the posts that come from this blog find you well, and that they encourage good discussions and that they may help with your own ideas and observations!
